Questions
My driver is installed. Why do I still have problems with Multiview?
Answer
If the VA11A is correctly listed under "Imaging Devices" in "Device Manager," and Multiview is not opening or is locking up, check the fixes below.
Hardware Acceleration
The first setting to check is Hardware Acceleration.
- Right-click on your Desktop and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu that appears.
- Click on the Settings tab, and then click on the "Advanced" button in the bottom right corner.
- Click on the "Troubleshooting" tab; then lower the slider to "None" and deselect the "Enable Write Combining" box.
Apply these changes and restart the computer.
Direct X
The next thing we are going to be looking at is your DirectX version.
- Click "Start" on your computer, and then click on "Run."
- Type
DXDIAGin the space provided; then click on "OK."
- Make sure "Direct X Version:" listed near the bottom of the screen is version 8.1 or greater.
To update these drivers, go to http://support.microsoft.com.
Setup Firecracker
Click on Setup Firecracker in MultiView. If you have the CM19A USB computer interface, which looks kind of like a USB mouse with a wire tail, select Disabled for both Transmitter and Receiver. This will make MultiView use the USB Firecracker only.
Note: If you have the CM17A serial port Firecracker interface, move the radio button under Transmitter to Manual, and select the communications port that the CM17A is installed onto from the drop-down menu. Next, move the radio button under Receiver to Disabled.
Lower Your Frequency
Lower the frequency by which MultiView is saving images. Try once every 30 seconds and see how long the software runs. If it still locks up, select Setup Firecracker and disable both the Receiver and Transmitter, then disconnect the Firecracker. This will test the software with a single camera.
Correct USB Port
Lastly, we want to ensure that the VA11A X10 USB Video Capture Adapter is installed properly. Most USB devices can be run from any USB port. The VA11A, on the other hand, must be plugged into a USB port directly in the back of the computer. Any port not directly attached to your computer may be a de facto unpowered USB hub; the VA11A needs a powered USB port. Unplug the VA11A from any other USB port it may be connected to and plug it into a USB port on the back of your computer tower.
