Question

I am having trouble setting up my FloodCam, and I am not sure what is wrong. What can I do?

Answer

If you have problems answering these questions, please refer to this document.

1) Have you installed your FloodCam?

2) Does your FloodCam problem involve the behavior of the lights/motion sensor, or is it an issue with the camera picture?

  • LIGHTS: Go to step 3.
  • CAMERA: Go to step 8.
  • CLEARLY NOT EITHER: Go to step 15.

3) When the FloodCam is initially connected to power, are the lights on immediately?

  • YES: Please call 800-442-5138. Your FloodCam may have an issue.

  • YES: Go to step 5.
  • NO: Go to step 7.

  • YES: Go to step 6.
  • NO/"the dials just keep spinning": Please call 800-442-5138. Your FloodCam may have an issue.

6) OK, now cover the sensor completely with a cloth. Do the lights go off eventually?

  • NO: Please call 800-442-5138. Your FloodCam may have an issue.

  • TV: Go to step 9.

  • NO: Review this article then go to step 4.
  • SORT OF: Go to step 10.
  • YES: Go to step 11.

10) Do you have more than one X10 camera set to the same A-D transmission channel as the FloodCam and connected to power?

11) Do you have more than one X10 camera set to the same A-D transmission channel as the FloodCam and connected to power?

  • YES: Go to step 12.
  • NO: Go to step 14.

12) Can you switch between cameras using an X10 remote control?

13) How far is the FloodCam from the Video Receiver? What is between the cam and receiver?

14) Do you have access to a TV?

15) Let me clear up some common questions. The FloodCam needs 110V AC wall power, including a neutral wire, to work; it does not have a microphone or broadcast audio; it is not a night-vision camera, but is dependent on its attached floodlights to produce a picture in low light.

  • Please contact techical support at 800-442-5138 or techpriority@x10.com. Explain what you want your FloodCam to do and what it is doing instead.
