The VA12A can be identified by its datecode: a small white circular sticker with a code like 08G37. That reads as "produced in the 37th week of 2008:" <year as 2 digits><letter><week of year as 2 digits>. Any adapter with a datecode of 08G37 or later is the improved VA12A adapter.
