Question

How do I configure my non-X10 universal remote to work with the IR543?

Answer

Pre-programmed remotes

Some universal remotes, like the Philips Pronto, can download preprogrammed X10 control files for control of a full 16 modules. Check your owner's manual for preprogrammed codes- you may see X10 listed under the AUX section.

Learning remotes

Other universal remotes can capture and replay IR codes from other remotes. Owners of other learning remotes may wish to purchase one of our remote controls to capture the IR codes.

Note that most X10 universal remotes must be specially configured to send IR X10 commands instead of radio X10 commands. The procedure for setting the remotes to send IR is outlined in each remote's manual.

Learning remotes can often capture IR codes from other devices such as notebook computers, SmartPhones, or PocketPCs. This may require additional software.
