Using The Video Calling System with Windows Live Messenger (MSN)

To install the latest version of MSN Live Messenger, please click on the link below and follow the setup instructions.

When you click on the above link, you will need to click on one of the "Get it free" buttons as outlined as step 1 in the graphic below.
Once the File Download window appears, you will need to click on the "Run" button step 2.
You will then see a progress indicator as the file downloads.
Next, you will be prompted to install the software - click on the "Run" button to proceed.
Click on the "Next" button when prompted.
Check the top circle "I accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Statement" as outlined in step 1.
Click "Next" as outlined in step 2.
Check the boxes for the features you want to install in the initial setup and click "Next"
You will then see a progress indicator as the software installs.
You should then see a window display showing that windows Live Messenger has been installed.
Clickon the "Close" button.
If you already have an email address for Windows Messenger, then click on option 1 "Sign In"
If you do not already have a user name for Windows Messenger, you'll need to create one by clicking on option 2 "Get a new account".
After you have created an ID, you can then sign into Windows Messenger.
After you have installed your MSN Live Messenger, let's go preview your camera with it.
To preview your camera, you will need to go to "Tools" and then "Audio/Video Setup"
Next, you'll need to click "Next" after ensuring you have followed the instructions when prompted.
The next screen will let you preview the expected sound if you are using headphones or speakers by selecting the head phones box (or not) and clicking on "Play"
In Step 2, you can preview the audio with the microphone you have selected.
In Step 3, you will see a preview of the X10 Camera Control in one window, as well the camera image displayed within the MSN window.
Please ensure that you have selected "X10 Webcam" from the "Select the Webcam you would like to use" dropdown menu.
Again, it is fairly easy to distinguish between the 2 preview panes - the X10 window will display virtual pan and tilt control arrows while the MSN window will not.
Click on the "Finish" button when you are done
