If you own an answering machine, set the slide switch on the TR16A Telephone Responder to the Answering Machine position; otherwise, set it to Normal. In the Normal mode, the Telephone Responder will NOT pick up the line if someone (or something) answers the phone. With the slide switch set to "Answering Machine," it always picks up the line.

The TR16A Telephone Responder can flash a selected light or lights anywhere in your home when the phone rings (useful for the hearing impaired). Any Module(s) set to the same number as the third digit on the security code dial (on right) flashes on and off when the phone rings. If you do not want any modules to come on, you will need to set the third digit to a Unit Code that you do not have any modules set for.

Question

Why does my light turn on and off when the phone rings and the TR16A is plugged in?

Answer

The TR16A Telephone Responder can flash a selected light or lights anywhere in your home when the phone rings (useful for the hearing impaired). Any Module(s) set to the same number as the third digit on the security code dial (on right) flashes on and off when the phone rings. If you do not want any modules to come on, you will need to set the third digit to a Unit Code that you do not have any modules set for.
